Glam A Sham?

I get a lot of interesting emails regarding the fashion media, but this one was too interesting to refuse to post.

I'm sure all you fashion heads out there have checked out Glam.com from time to time. There is a lot of fashion and beauty editorial on there, as well as a pretty major community of bloggers. Now me personally, I love fashion, but can't really get into the larger fashion blogger networks. The tone and style of the writing on these network sites isn't authentic or one on one as most one authored blogs seem to be. Check out the email for yourself:

"New York, New York, July 7, 2009- At first glance, Glam.com appears to be an impressive website with links to news on fashion, entertainment, luxury living and more. Articles, blogs, pictures and videos make up the website that seems a hub of fashion and entertainment. Yet the idea for the initial website was implemented with an idea originated by Kimberly Stone, founder and CEO of POSHGLAM.com.
The similarity was no accident; in fact, Glam.com is a stolen business model. Though Glam.com founder Samir Arora launched Sep. 19th 2005, Stone had purchased the rights to POSHGLAM.com on May 16, 2005 far before Arora even owned the rights to GLAM.com.
This initial transfer of ideas was not the end for Glam.com. The site compiles insights and tidbits from other fashion insiders and websites, and then presents them as its own. These underhanded actions are exploitations of the fashion industry and its virtual realms, from blogs to bargain buys. Now, rather than a fashion Mecca, this website has been exposed a fashion fraud.

Glam.com, Don't Click on the Ads...or support the stolen idea!"

Wow. I don't know how true this is, but if Glam.com ripped off the concept, I don't think they should continue to receive support. I know how it feels to work really hard on an idea or project you developed on your own, and I can only imagine what it feels like for it to be stolen and to actually reap the benefits.

Fashion News Round-Up

>> Wednesday, July 8, 2009

I know I am in and out with this blog, but it's all for good reasons. I promise. Bare with me as I am trying to focus back on the site. Life can be crazy.

Here's your fashion news fix...

Fashion bible Vogue Magazine is finally acknowledging that we are in a recession and becoming sensitive to readers' financial hardships. The top fashion magazine will now include a section that will feature items under $500. Now I know many of you may not be moved by the new addition, but I must say Vogue deserves a couple of slow hand claps for finally understanding that they have been very financially insensitive while our country has seen one of the biggest economic crisis in decades.

YSL is giving the web a sneak peek at the upcoming fall collection...

The high-end label has chosen to feature American model Christy Turlington on the 2009/2010 fall/winter ad.

Lady GaGa strikes again in a new photoshoot for V magazine. Of course she couldn't do a shoot without showing us all her glory...and by that I mean her nippled glory.

Everybody is so manufactored these days. Moving on...

Today officially kicked off Fashion Week in Hong Kong. I'm sure they will flood the runways with more outrageous fashion. But honestly, the above photo may take the cake.

Happy Hump Day!

When it comes to bridal fashions and the hottest and most fabulous trends of the season, the runways have been filled with many blacks, pinks, blues, and sparkle to make the fashion addicts look at weddings in a whole new light.

Shorter is in, traditional is out, and white isn't the only color a bride would want to be caught dead in anymore.

So where does that leave all fashionable bridesmaids?

Wedding Fashion|Spring 2009 Wedding Trends

>> Wednesday, April 29, 2009

It’s spring and for many couples, it’s the perfect season to begin a new life together. Although love in itself is crucial for one to have their “happily ever after,” fashion still has its place in the festivities. Believe it or not, the bride’s dress can set the mood for the entire wedding. It is imperative to choose the right dress. Who doesn’t want to look fabulous while strutting it down the aisle?

Here’s a look at spring 2009 wedding trends.

1. A splash of color can add a little style.

One of the hottest spring 2009 wedding trends is color. Brides no longer have to take the traditional route with an all white or ivory gown, they can opt for light colors such as pinks, green, purples, metallic, and blues.

If you would rather have a more traditional look, you can simply add a splash of color by wearing a nice belt in any shade that you prefer. Colored gloves can also help you achieve this trend just as well.

2. Black dresses and accessories create a bold and intense appearance that looks fabulous.

3. Mini/Short skirt wedding dresses.

Shorter informal wedding dresses are great for brides who want to skip out on buying a reception dress or who plan to marry on an island with hotter weather conditions.

4. One-shoulder/asymetrical wedding dresses.

And showing a little shoulder will be very popular this wedding season.

Fashion News Round-Up...Ciara Wants To Design Cute Kiddy Underwear, Juicy Couture To Create Another Label, Project Runway Update

>> Friday, April 24, 2009

Time for your fashion news fix...

Singer Ciara is trying to start her own fashion line. She wants the line to be sexy and fun, and even has plans for designing underwear.

Ci Ci says:

"It would be a fun sexy line, like cute character underwear that kids wear. It'd be for laughs - I'd call it Fly Girl."

Sigh. Now I love me some CiCi no matter how I feel about her upcoming album, but Ciara is not the most fashionable in my opinion. She has gotten better, but if her label is anything like what she has laying in her closet, I will have to pass on this one. Especially with a name like "Fly Girl." I guess it will be cool for the younger girls.

Moving on...

The Juicy girls of Juicy Couture are planning to launch another label called Bird by Juicy Couture. While it isn't exactly a high-end line, it is priced 30% higher than the Juicy Couture label. The new line will be sophisticated and laid back.

And Bravo has announced that Project Runway will indeed return to the network for a 6th season. The upcoming season will take place in LA.

Propers: Hottest Looks of The Week

It's Friday...and time to give propers to this week's most stylish.

Let's get to it people...

Rather you love her or hate her, Beyonce did the damn thing this week.

Photobucket

She rocked this chic and flirty look for her taping on David Letterman. This color looks great on Beyonce and it is one of the hottest colors of the season. According to the Pantone color report for this season, the color is Palace Blue. Great shade.

And here she is leaving the show in a white and more glamorous dress...

Photobucket

Very diva. She looked fabulous this week in all of her appearances, but these are my favorite looks. With Beyonce's style, either it is a hit or a horrible miss. She truly deserves her propers for this week.

Oh yeah...her shoe game is on point. Pure fierceness.
